BLUE ZONE
A fantastic day in the heart of the Blue Zone in Sardinia.
An authentic experience in close contact with the people who live and thrive in this unique area.
Far from typical tourist routes, you’ll discover the ancient wisdom and rhythms of life that have guided this population for millennia.
Winding through small villages, you’ll explore the aromas and flavors of simple, genuine Sardinian cuisine.
On board a comfortable 4×4 vehicle, you’ll cross lush countryside and the remains of ancient, long-lost civilizations.Meet the 4Experience team at your hotel or villa for a warm welcome briefing. From there, you’ll reach the meeting point with your guide in Oliena, in the Su Gologone area, where the tour begins aboard a comfortable SUV.
Just two minutes in, you’ll leave the main road and immerse yourself in the lush countryside, through vineyards and olive groves interspersed with vegetable gardens and almond orchards.
As you take in the views, you’ll dive into the Blue Zone lifestyle—observing the local people’s daily routines and visiting small farms where they grow fresh vegetables and fruits.
The core principles here are zero-kilometer sourcing and seasonality: nature is never forced, and everything follows the rhythm of the seasons.
In Oliena, you’ll meet Mrs. Giuseppina, a woman over ninety years old with several relatives who have lived past 100. She’ll share with you the habits and lifestyle that define this unique corner of Sardinia.
The tour continues to a traditional embroidery workshop, where ancient costumes are hand-stitched with golden thread, followed by a stop at a leather workshop where shepherd shoes are still handmade.
For lunch, you’ll relax on a family-run farmstead, nestled in the green countryside. Here, cows and goats are raised, and some of Sardinia’s finest cheeses are produced. In the afternoon, you’ll visit the springs of Su Gologone—the most important in Sardinia, reaching depths of over 135 meters.
The tour ends with a guided return in the afternoon.
What makes the Sardinian Blue Zone even more unique compared to others around the world is its near-equal ratio of male to female centenarians. Globally, this ratio is usually five women for every man over 100.
This rarity makes Sardinia’s Blue Zone case truly extraordinary.Although the entire island is often referred to as a Blue Zone, the area with the highest concentration of centenarians is very limited. These remarkable communities are mainly found in: Ogliastra (Villagrande Strisaili, Arzana, Talana, Baunei, Urzulei, Triei), Barbagia (especially in Tiana, Ovodda, Ollolai, Gavoi, Fonni, Mamoiada, Orgosolo, Oliena) and Seulo, in the southern part of the island.
